More about our Speaker… Dr. Michael W. Campbell is the director of the North American Division Archives, Statistics, and Research. An ordained minister and historian, he has taught internationally, co-edited the Oxford Handbook of Seventh-day Adventism, and contributes regularly to Adventist podcasts. He enjoys bird watching, racquetball, and Pathfinders. He has worked on developing several Pathfinder honors, including snowshoeing, women in Adventist history, and is currently working on new honors about the Great Controversy and the history of the Sabbath. This sabbath, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by having a guest speaker, Dr. Johnny Ramirez-Johnson, professor of Anthropology in the School of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Seminary, share about how Hispanic theology speaks powerfully into our collective hope—the return of Christ and the resurrection of the dead all through delving into Mark 12:18-27.
Hispanic theology output focuses on the Second Coming and how death's ultimate remedy will be resurrection. Today's sermon places death as an event on the road. Death is not the end! We will meditate on the road of death and resurrection.

Political violence and division are shaking our nation. Families are grieving, communities are fractured, and many are asking: Where is God in the midst of so much death and despair? In Luke 7, Jesus meets a grieving widow at the gate of her city. With a word, He stops the funeral and restores life where there was only loss. Pastor Daniel concluded our series "Alive Again: Compassion Resurrects," exploring the third and final time Luke uses the word “compassion," when Jesus Himself shows up.
