This Sabbath we pushed pause on our summer sermon series for an Old Testament interlude. Dr. Erik Carter shared a message entitled, “A Dispatch from the Darkness." Have you ever felt discouraged, defeated, or disillusioned? Then we especially invite you to pray and reflect on 1 Sam 22:1-2, as we draw practical lessons from an unusual season in King David’s life story—a time when he lived in a cave called Adullam.

•. What I share has mutual benefit - although I may prefer that you share your pie with me rather than I share my pie with you.
•. What I give I allow someone else to control - although when God has control, He works everything for good - including my offerings.
This week’s sermon passage in 1 Timothy 6:6-19 reminds us that life’s inevitable uncertainties can protect our priorities when we experience them though our heavenly Father’s perspective.

There is power in beginning again. The people of God worked hard to build the altar and lay the foundation. Then for 16 years, the work ceased. How will the people of God come back from this ‘false start’? How will the work of God begin again? We notice as we read that God does not rebuild the temple. God does not supernaturally do the work for the people. Instead, God raises up people to accomplish the will of God in some surprising ways.
This Sabbath, we continue in our sermon series Re[Build]: God's Promises, A Sure Foundation. In this series on the book of Ezra, we witness firsthand how the exiled people of God find their way. We see this week that it’s never too late to start again. Pastor Tara VinCross shared a message entitled, “Living Under God’s Faithfulness.” You are invited to pray and reflect on Ezra 5 and 6 in preparation for the message. Join us as we go deeper together in the word of God and see what it means for our lives today.

When we step forward on the path God has called us to, we can expect to encounter opposition and adversity. God has given the people a vision - to rebuild the temple of God. And it won’t come easily. Ezra 4:4 says, "Then the peoples around them set out to discourage the people of Judah and make them afraid to go on building.” In fact, their words not only discouraged but completely halted progress for a time. Yet, in spite of it all, God was at work in the people. This Sabbath, we continue in our sermon series Re[Build]: God's Promises, A Sure Foundation. In this series on the book of Ezra we witness firsthand how the exiled people of God find their way.
On Sabbath, May 14, Pastor Tara VinCross will share a message entitled, “Success Meets Resistance.” You are invited to pray and reflect on Ezra 4 - 5:2 in preparation for the message. Come join us as we go deeper together in the word of God and see what it means for our lives today.

The people of God in exile. We are probably divided on our experience of this word – exile. For some of us, we don’t really know what that word means. I mean we know what it means, but we don’t know what it really means...to be an exile. And for others of us, we know right away what it is to be on the outside. To have lost our sense of place, of belonging. Some of us have never known what it means to really belong. Have you ever felt like an exile?
This Sabbath, we begin a new sermon series Re[Build]: God's Promises, A Sure Foundation. In this series, we will journey through the Book of Ezra as the exiled people of God finding their way.
